The Jackal’s Price: LoF Session XLIV
We were awoken, and Ce-tan took a rose water bath. From there we talked strategy…Ce-tan’s strategy was to fire first and ask question later…literally. In the end, after much debate, our strategy is to enter the warehouse and kill everything we find. With nothing left to discuss we finalized our plans and left the palace. Once outside a red macaw, Abenashi, came swooping down demanding answers as to what happened to his master and his master’s home. It took a few moments to describe the nights events, but the bird seemed to take everything in stride. With all explained, Abenashi decided to help us rescue his master so we once again made our leave toward Maysam’s warehouse.
As we traveled down toward to the warehouse someone tried to steal from Khatovar. Khatovar then in turn broke the thiefs arm, but the thief turned out to be a small child. Khatovar felt bad and asks Zahkmed to heal the boy, which was the right thing to do. Ce-tan offered the boy a job with some coin and Khatovar released the boy. Long after the thief had disappeared back into the city, Khatovar realized that the boy had placed a letter in his pocket and had not been attempting to steal at all. The letter was of course a demand for the scroll of Kakishon in exchange for Rayhan’s life. The demand was that we put the scroll in a box and throw it off the edge of a specified pier.
We decided the only thing we would be putting in a box was the Jackal’s head. Soon we arrived at the warehouse and we wished for Ce-tan to shroud our presence from sight. From there we decided it would be best to just walk strait in through the front door. Inside we found a massive bustling warehouse full of boxes and men. There appeared to be a catwalk on the second floor and perhaps some rooms above the main entrance. A large man stood in the center giving orders and appeared to be the one in charge. It was at that point Khatovar noticed the smell of wet dog and that the foreman appears to be nervous for some reason. The smell reminded Khatovar of the fowl gnolls of the carrion king.
AND THEN THERE WAS A FIIIIIIREEEEEE FIIIIGHT!!!
Somehow there was more of a fire fight…Ce-tan’s shot a fireball that caused the entire warehouse explode and killed all on the ground floor. We wept for Khatovar…he could have great, he could have been a contender. His wings had been clipped and he would never fly again. The battle was an ode to his lost epicness, the man, the legend, the fallen hero. Soon after the explosion and Khatovar’s fall we find out that they have an Aluum under their command. The Aluum was identical to those that protect the city, but for the light within it’s chest, which burned green instead of blue. After the appearance of the Aluum Maysam mus have grown confident since she chose that time to appear with her Zepher guard. Ce-tan promptly confused Maysam and her Zepher guard body guard. While under the influence of his spell Maysum killed the Zepher guard in an explosion of bone shards, blood, and gore. This shit just got real! After an intense battle the Aluum finally fell to the blade of Zahkmed.
We bound up Maysum as there were many questions she needed to answer…
