The End of Eternity: LoF Session LII
With the battle done the dragon dismissed the rest of the magic slinging skeletons. While most were destroyed the three that were stuck inside of Ce-tan’s invisible prison turned back into to dragon teeth. Fortunately the dragon did not seem concerned and I was able to take the remaining teeth. The dragon then congratulated us on our victory and told us it would answer our questions since we had defeated it. It unfortunately could only do so by controlling the winds to speak and had a limited number of questions it could answer. Ce-tan started explain all of our deeds and who we were. She seemed bored with his talking so we push Ce-tan to move forward with the conversation.
Ce-tan finally asked about Jhavul and his powers and more importantly if they are true. She answered that they were and powers such that Jhavul commanded typically belonged to those of the older bloodlines. Ce-tan then inquired if Jhavul had any weaknesses. The dragon gave a generic answer stating that Jhavul had the weaknesses of any powerful arrogant creature. Not receiving much information on the subject of Jhavul, Ce-tan switched the topic to Andrathi. She could not tell us much as she had not seen Andrathi in a very long time, but she considered him a good friend. For a time Andrathi had stayed on the island with her and had sought the power to defeat Jhavul as we did. When he could not find the power he needed there with her he left and she never saw him again. She assumed him dead. According to the dragon Andrathi sought the power over the elemental flame. Ce-tan, curious more for his own gains in power, asked if Nex ever processed such a power. To her knowledge Nex did not or at least never saw it, but the power Nex had to create Kakishon was that of the gods themselves. Perhaps the power of creation was the power both Andrathi and Ce-tan sought.
Khatovar asked why Andrathi sought out a weapon to kill Jhavul. She explained that he was a companion and lover to Nafeshti. The Templar of the five winds were trying to kill Jhavul, but when they could not they locked him in Kakishon. Andrathi did not wish to become trapped in Kakishon, but in the end he was a good man and did what was needed to trap Jhavul. Curious I asked why they were trying to kill Jhavul in the first place. She explained that long ago in northern Gurundi there was a spawn of Rovagug and Nex was the magi who lead the group that destroyed it. The spawn of Rovagug was cast down by a one thousand and one wizards and one thousand and one wishes. Jhavul was undoing the wishes at two a day with his power during the period before his imprisonment in Kakishon. The dragon went on to explain the basics of wishcraft and that genies did not know how they cast their wishes until they are in the act. Jhavul himself had the power to warp the wishes of others or any wish from another genie. He had been removing the wishes binding the spawn of Rovagug by means of wish abuse. The Templars decided to hunt down and destroy those who would pervert their wishes and go against genie society. Ce-tan then asked what happen to Nafeshti and her Templars , but unfortunately the dragon did not know. She believed that Andrathi would probably no more if he were still alive.
We decided to move on to questions of escaping Kakishon and she informed us that there is only one way out and into Kakishon that she knew of. That way was through the scroll. Even souls were stuck within Kakishon as was Nex’s final gambit so that no one could control his body or soul should he die. His tomb was supposed to be in Kakishon and she surmised he must still be alive since he was not entombed in Kakishon. If souls could not leave and Andrathi was presumed dead, where was his soul? She answered that most who die go to the realm where the proteans exist. However, strong souls could resist and would most likely be where they had perished. Believing him to be such soul she told us Andrathi we would need to find where he died. Khatovar spontaneasly changed subjects and asked of the island made entirely of ice. All she could tell us was that it was fifty miles to the north and that it was Nex’s favorite hunting ground within Kakishon. Its name was Aliskerin.
With that last question the dragon warned us that she only has the ability to answer two more questions. We asked if we could trust the proteans and mentioned that they wished to destroy Kakishon. With a laugh she informed us if that was what they truly wanted the proteans could just send us back. However, if we did not trust the proteans she told us we could go to the Shaitan. The Shiatan did not have the power to return us, but could force the proteans to do so. According to the dragon the proteans wished to return Kakishon back to their playground of creation. Ce-tan finally asked of Artel Norin and why we should seek him out. We learned from the dragon that Artel Norin was once Nex’s personal crafter and artificer. Kakishon was supposed to be his place of retirement. Typically he had quarters at the pleasure palace, but if not there he would be at the fire forge on the island of Salinax. The only way for mortals to reach the island of Salinax would be pheonix bridge connected from Khosravi island. With no questions left for her to answer we thanked her for her time and left.
After much debate we decided to go to the fire island of Salinax. Course decided with boarded our boat and continued our journey through the evening and night. In the morning we received a message that reached all our ears. “I Oberon speak for the true Shiatan. No doubt the proteans have told you many tales. Come to Khandel Wall and hear the truth.” Khatovar replied, “we may in time.” With the morning sun we reached Khosravi and its hostel. The building was completely unoccupied, but there was oddly an attached bunk house that could house several hundred people. Inspecting the island further we found another building that turned out to be an armory. All of the weapons were affected by a make whole spell once per day. Khatovar spotted a mechanical sparing dummy and decided to fight it as is nature. We tried to get horses and failed so we started to walk. After several hours of walking and listening to Ce-tan complain we reached the crest of the closest ridge. The barren land stretched off miles in all directions. As we continued to climb Khatovar and I both noticed that the ground was torn up and something traumatic happened there long ago. On the final ridge we noticed in the distance a massive black spike stuck in the ground reaching up into the sky. The rest was all scrub land and past black spike it we could tell it turned into bad lands. Of course we believed that was the directions of the bridge. Surveying the land closer we noticed a stream or small river and on this river were things clashing and banging into each other. It appeared to be red vs blue.
We decided to go down and follow the river on our magical boat. As we grew closer, we confirmed that they were indeed red and blue siege engines fighting each other. As we watched they slowly all destroy each other so we continued on to the river. The river itself was shallow and rocky, but given our boat floated above the water we decided it would not be an issue. We ended up traveling for several hours and the land turned swampy all around us. As we were looking around we notice the world had started to ripple. It then rippled again and finally the land turned into a desert. Khatovar believed that this was once Nex’s training ground for his armies. Reaching the rivers end we departed the boat and started to walk toward out goal. As we traveled we heard the rush of moving sand, like something large pushing through the sand as we cresteed a dune. Once on the dune we noticed in the distance a green zeppelin flying toward us. Ce-tan started to fly toward it as it turned to broadside him trying to shoot him out of the sky. Looking further down the dune we noticed a giant turtle siege engine of death coming strait for us…it was also green.
Wasting no time Ce-tan decided to teleport us on top of the death turtle. There was a battle, which I barely survived…no doubt part of Ce-tan’s plan.
